Ascending to the Clouds

Synopsis

Su Ling, the Mighty Phoenix King guarding the border of the Great Xia Empire, falls victim to a treacherous attack by his trusted confidant during a fierce battle against six demonic deities. His senses are sealed, and he is found by Tang Yurou, the heiress of the declining Tang family in Lizhou. For three years, he lives as a simpleton in the Tang household. As the Tang family faces ruin, Tang Long, the patriarch, forces Yurou to marry Chen Yu. Chen, resentful of Su Ling's status as Yurou's husband, attacks him, but surprisingly, Su Ling regains his senses and learns the truth of the past three years (unaware that Chu Feng is his betrayer). Su Ling then reaches out to the Wei family, loyal followers of the Mighty Phoenix King, for help in preventing Yurou's forced marriage to Chen. Meanwhile, Chu Feng learns of Su Ling's return and sends Yang, a former subordinate promoted by Su Ling, to eliminate him based on a misunderstanding.
