Synopsis

Seven years ago, Elodie gave birth to a son, Colin, for her husband Arthur, but Colin was born with a rare genetic disease. To save his grandson, Walter, the old patriarch of the Voss family, forcibly extracted Elodie's neural cells, leaving her near death, and dumped her in the Ashen City landfill. Losing her memory, Elodie gave birth to a daughter, Iloen, sustained by the residual energy of her pendant, and mother and daughter clung to each other in the slums for seven years. Seven years later, Iloen saved up crystals to treat her mother's illness, but after a car accident conflict with Colin, Helen blacklisted her identity. To protect her daughter, Elodie was struck by a hover-car and gravely injured, and Iloen sold her own heart to raise money to buy a Voss Group bio-chip—only to be blocked by the blacklist again. Through Elodie's appearance, the pendant's reaction, and a paternity test, Arthur gradually confirmed that Iloen was his daughter and began to suspect that the woman in the hospital bed was Elodie. Vera, out of jealousy, concealed the genetic report, while Lucian attempted to use consciousness-overwriting to "resurrect" his daughter, plunging Elodie into a life-and-death crisis once more. In the end, Arthur rescued Elodie; Walter confessed the truth of those years; Vera was imprisoned; and Lucian's memory deteriorated. Though Elodie woke with no memory, with Arthur, Colin, and Iloen by her side, she learned to be loved again.
