Synopsis

Bought as a pet by the old Wolf Alpha Warwick, Ian secretly steals and sells the tribe's sacred artifact—the Shadow Wolf King’s heart—to afford life-saving medical treatment for his critically ill younger brother. However, Edmund, the Alpha’s 18-year-old son, catches Ian in the act and uses this secret to blackmail him into submission. Unbeknownst to Ian, Edmund carries deep emotional scars from watching his human mother suffer under his father’s emotional abuse until her tragic death. During the tribe's migration, Ian is nearly killed when given to a hunter as a reward, but Edmund steps in to save him. Later at a market, after Edmund fights to protect Ian from foreign abusers and defies his father, he falls into a life-threatening fever from untreated wounds. While nursing Edmund back to health, Ian learns about the boy's tragic past, softening the tension between them. When Edmund discovers the unpaid medical bills for Ian's brother, remorse consumes him. He releases Ian from the blackmail and anonymously pays off all the medical debts. Realizing the depth of Edmund's selflessness, Ian comes to terms with his growing feelings for him. During the grand hunt, Ian risks his own safety to help an injured Edmund secure a kill. That evening at the bonfire, Edmund openly defies his father by placing his late mother's mate necklace around Ian’s neck. Enraged, Warwick throws Ian into prison and demands Edmund abandon him or lose his title. Edmund chooses to renounce his birthright. At the trial, Warwick forces a death sentence on them: survive a deadly full-moon hunt on the wasteland by slaying its most lethal direwolf. Secretly stalking them into the wasteland, Warwick sets a poisoned trap to execute both of them, only to accidentally trigger it himself and perish. After a bloody struggle, Ian and Edmund defeat the direwolf and emerge victorious. With Warwick dead, Edmund officially ascends as the new Alpha, publicly welcoming Ian by his side. Restoring his mother's necklace around Ian's neck, the two finally embrace their feelings and step into a new life together.
