Synopsis
Mu Xiyan and Fu Jingyi come from well-matched families and are deeply in love. Just as they are about to discuss marriage, the Fu family faces a financial crisis that puts them on the verge of bankruptcy. As Fu Jingyi's competitor, Lu Huaishen seeks to deepen the blow to Fu Jingyi and, for his own amusement, wants to see the difficult decision Mu Xiyan, the young lady of the Mu family, will make. He offers her 50 million if she agrees to break up with Fu Jingyi and not contact him for two years. Knowing how important the Fu family business is to Fu Jingyi, Mu Xiyan agrees to Lu Huaishen’s conditions and leaves Fu Jingyi. Mu Xiyan leaves a bank card containing 50 million yuan in Fu Jingyi's office before walking away, but the card is taken by Fu Jingyi’s assistant and handed over to Jiang Qian. Jiang Qian takes out 40 million and gives it to Fu Jingyi, falsely claiming it’s money she raised herself. During the two years Mu Xiyan is gone, Jiang Qian cares for Fu Jingyi, making him very grateful to her. Meanwhile, Jiang Qian subtly insinuates to Fu Jingyi that Mu Xiyan left him because she was vain and only abandoned him when the Fu family fell into hardship, deepening Fu Jingyi's misunderstanding of Mu Xiyan. After Fu Jingyi's successful recovery and resurgence, he sends Jiang Qian abroad to study. Two years later, Mu Xiyan returns, only to find that Fu Jingyi no longer believes in her. Adding to her troubles, Lu Huaishen continues to threaten Mu Xiyan using her mother, preventing her from explaining the misunderstanding from years ago. Thinking she and Fu Jingyi will never reconcile, Mu Xiyan is caught off guard when Fu Jingyi’s grandfather forces him to marry her on his deathbed.
