Synopsis

The story unfolds in Evernight City, a cyberpunk metropolis sealed off by the Wall of Sighs. The city is strictly segregated into the sun-drenched Upper District and the overcrowded, perpetually dark Lower District. To ruthlessly exploit the lower-class workforce, the ruling elites have woven a web of colossal lies—including a fabricated "nuclear doomsday," simulated "family bonds," programmed "physiological pain," and forced "memory implants." The Ultimate Truth: The entirety of Evernight City is, in reality, a miniature sociological sandbox laboratory engineered by real-world humans at Prism Industries. Every single inhabitant of the city—from the impoverished masses and the security forces to the ruling Guardian Council of the Upper District—is an Android Sample. The sole purpose of the experiment is to observe how long it will take for androids, when subjected to extreme oppression, to break through their base code, awaken true "free will," and rebel against their human creators.
