Synopsis

In a world where gods and mortals coexist within a rigid hierarchy, the clan of "Listeners"—those capable of understanding the inner voices of divine offspring—was long ago driven to extinction. Elara, the last survivor, struggles to stay alive while concealing her identity in a nursery at the very bottom of the divine realm. Her fate is irrevocably altered by an assassination attempt. Helix, the newborn son of the tyrannical King of the Gods, Zeus, possesses a thunderous power so volatile that his wails can tear temples apart, leaving him unapproachable by anyone. Brought before Zeus while on the brink of death, Elara is forced to reveal her forbidden gift: she understands the divine infant's "cries" and soothes them. Having survived, she becomes Helix’s exclusive wet nurse—and Zeus’s most closely guarded prisoner. Thus begins Elara’s perilous existence, walking a razor’s edge. She must navigate the deadly schemes of the jealous huntress Artemis, the treacherous machinations of Euphrosyne (Goddess of Mirth), and the mercurial rages—and inexplicable attention—of Zeus himself. She forms a profound bond with Helix that transcends the master-servant dynamic; this connection awakens the dormant power in her own blood, allowing her to hear the whispers of ancient deities and glimpse buried history. Zeus’s view of her shifts from mere tool to suspicious captive, and finally to an uncontrollable attraction. He gifts her an amethyst of serenity (once belonging to Hera) to suppress the whispers, only to shatter it himself when he suspects her of colluding with the Titans. Caught in a volatile dance of push-and-pull and lethal attraction, they endure everything from an assassination attempt amidst the charged atmosphere of the War God’s hall to a life-or-death struggle in the abyss—culminating in Zeus kneeling to save her and bestowing upon her the very essence of his thunder. Yet, the sweetness is fleeting. Elara’s identity as a "Listener" is exposed, provoking the wrath of the entire divine realm. Defying all opposition to protect her, Zeus grants her the title of "Matriarch," but their grand wedding descends into a slaughterhouse born of divine conspiracy. Amidst betrayal and bloodshed, Zeus lost control of his power while shielding her, resulting in his imprisonment within the Eternal Molten Abyss. The story’s final chapter hinges on Elara’s desperate gamble. She must confront the ultimate truth of her lineage: the "Listener" is not merely a soothing presence for the divine heirs, but a "Sword of Damocles" hanging over the heads of the gods themselves. She faces a choice—to venture into the abyss and rescue the God-King who once viewed her as a mere insect yet was willing to upend the world for her sake; or to wield that sword, bring an end to the age of gods, and exact vengeance for her people.
