He Could Hear Us While He Slept

Synopsis

On her wedding day, Nora Reed, the long-concealed biological daughter of a wealthy clan who had been kept hidden from her true identity, tearfully approaches Adrian Vale, the billionaire who has been in a coma for two years, to enter into a proxy marriage on behalf of Celeste, the beloved fake heiress. Everyone assumes her life is ruined, but once the door closes, she discovers that any physical contact with Adrian will immediately grant her a million-dollar reward from the black card of Lady Fortune, the golden-feathered magpie. Nora then proceeds to hold his hand, give him massages, and even sleep snuggled up beside him, treating her vegetative husband as the perfect asset. Little does she know that while Adrian’s body lies dormant, his soul has remained fully conscious, watching every move alongside Vow, his shadow wolf that is deeply attached to his wife. Vow mistakes the golden-feathered magpie’s connection for romantic love, leading Adrian to firmly believe his wife has been hopelessly devoted to him all along. As a power-seizing assassination draws near, Nora’s touches no longer generate money, but instead begin to rouse Adrian from his slumber; by the time he finally wakes, the very secret she has feared being exposed the most becomes the very reason he refuses to let her go.
