He Loved Her Child More—So He Lost His Own

Synopsis

Roman was the Alpha of the Silverpine Tribe. To protect Mara—the widow of the warrior who had sacrificed himself to save him—and her young son, he chose them over his own family time and again. The entire tribe sang his praises for his loyalty and honor. Only I knew that every promise he made to Mara was teaching his own daughter to stop waiting for him. Until Ivy wrote in her school assignment at the tribal academy: "My father is already dead." "He didn't die at the border. He died at Mara's house. Every time she called, he went to her and forgot how to come home." Roman finally sensed something was wrong and returned with belated gifts. What he didn't know was that the summons from the Northern Court had already arrived in my hands. Fifteen days from now, I would take Ivy home, reclaim my position as the Alpha King's daughter, and accept my appointment as the next Chief Healer of the Northern Court—the future I had once given up for Roman.
