My Beloved, the False Substitute

Synopsis

Lawrence infiltrates the Fran family by pretending to be the fiancée of Richard, a wealthy tycoon, in search of the boy he was separated from fifteen years ago. He plans to leverage Richard’s influence to uncover the truth and exact revenge, yet he unexpectedly becomes entangled with Webster, Richard’s son. Drawn to Lawrence, Webster exerts domineering control and presses him relentlessly, all while being haunted by echoes of the past he sees in Lawrence. While enduring Richard’s domestic abuse and manipulation, Lawrence exploits the rift between father and son to advance his vengeful scheme. Mistaking Webster for his enemy, he orchestrates a plot that leaves Webster thrown into the sea. It is only through clues found at a cemetery that the truth comes to light: Webster is the childhood friend Lawrence has spent fifteen years desperately searching for. Having survived the ordeal, Webster and Lawrence resolve their misunderstanding and form an alliance. They gather conclusive evidence of Richard’s crimes—domestic violence, false imprisonment, corporate offenses, and the harm inflicted upon children fifteen years prior. At the wedding ceremony, Lawrence publicly exposes Richard’s atrocities, and Richard is taken into police custody. Once the turmoil subsides, Webster takes over the Fran Group. The two lay their vengeance to rest, heal from old wounds, and step toward a new life together.
