Synopsis

Set in Los Angeles, sixty-year-old Dr. Margaret Whitmore is a retired but rehired chief of obstetrics and gynecology at St. Aurelia Women's Medical Center. She wears old cashmere cardigans, reading glasses, and drives a modest old Volvo—looking like the most ordinary elderly doctor. But the outside world doesn't know that she is the true matriarch of Whitmore Maison, America's top fashion group, the mother of fashion billionaire Julian Whitmore, and the most mysterious legendary designer in global fashion, Aurelia Voss. One day, Margaret treats a young patient, Vanessa Hart. The test results show Vanessa has syphilis. Following medical ethics, Margaret advises her to seek further testing immediately and to notify her partner for screening. Just then, Margaret notices Vanessa's phone lock screen—it's an engagement photo. The man in the photo is her son, Julian. Margaret does not reveal her identity. She simply reminds Vanessa, as a doctor, that she should not enter marriage while hiding such a condition. Vanessa, however, mistakes her for a poor, outdated doctor and becomes instantly furious and humiliated.
