Synopsis
Nora, 26, finds a note a year after her sister Irene’s suicide: “Little sister, I tried it for you. The world isn’t as scary as you think.” Irene had written it a year earlier, knowing Nora would find it. Moved, Nora starts the Irene Helpline—a listening line with no advice, only presence. Callers include an insomniac, a caregiver, a student, a girl on a bridge. The line grows to over twenty volunteers. A former caller later emails: “I didn’t jump that night. I’m in college now.” Nora returns home, replants Irene’s roses, and discovers more notes hidden in Irene’s belongings. This is not a story about moving on, but about being heard. Irene’s unfinished road is carried forward by Nora—not walking it alone, but widening it for others.
