Substitude Bride

Synopsis

"Xia Anran married into the Gu family as a substitute for the Liu family's eldest daughter. The groom, Gu Xizhou—the Gu family's eldest son—had been left comatose after a car accident two years prior. Impressed by Xia Anran's quiet devotion in caring for her vegetative husband, her mother-in-law doted on her excessively. Xia Anran's motives were simple: be a dutiful wife, tend to her husband, embrace widowhood-in-life, and perhaps one day inherit his wealth if he passed away. She devoted herself to his care with meticulous attention. One day, arriving at his hospital room, she found the bed empty. Stunned, she assumed he had died—especially when her mother-in-law and the housekeeper approached with red-rimmed eyes. Xia Anran burst into tears, delivering a heartfelt speech to comfort her mother-in-law... only for Gu Xizhou to appear behind her, alive and well. Thus began their unexpected married life."
