The King's Return

Synopsis

Three years ago, Ye Lingxiao led his forces to crush the allied army of ten nations, burying a million Dongying prisoners alive in a legendary pit. But his towering achievements shook the throne, and scheming courtiers impeached him for excessive slaughter and disloyalty. Disdainful of court intrigue, Ye Lingxiao vanished into anonymity, resurfacing in Jiangzhou as a street-side fried rice vendor. While in hiding, he quietly leveraged his vast resources to aid his fiancée An Miaoyi's family multiple times, only for them to spurn the true dragon among men. On their wedding day, An Miaoyi publicly repudiated him, rallying everyone to humiliate and mock Ye Lingxiao. But fate turned when Mu Yun ge, the Mu family's eldest daughter from the capital, arrived with a billion-dollar dowry and proposed on the spot. Later, Ye Lingxiao's subordinate Shen Wanshan's delayed message delivered the Heavenly King's betrothal gifts to the An family by mistake, leading them to believe An Miaoyi had caught the eye of the invincible Heavenly King. Emboldened, the Ans grew arrogant, relentlessly tormenting Ye Lingxiao at a grand clan banquet and rallying a hundred major families to assassinate him. Yet Ye Lingxiao dismantled their schemes one by one, his true identity gradually unveiling until the king reemerged, commanding universal submission.
