The Last Page of the Will

Synopsis

For three years, her father suffered from hemiplegia following a stroke. His youngest daughter, Piper, quit her job to provide round-the-clock care, handling everything from day-to-day nursing and rehabilitation to all the mundane tasks—a sacrifice that cost her a relationship and took a toll on her health. Her older brother, Robert, who lives in Silicon Valley, rarely visited, while her second-eldest sister, Eleanor, merely took frequent photos to cultivate an image of a dutiful daughter. After their father’s death, family and friends gathered to read the will: the property went to Robert, the savings to Eleanor, and Piper received nothing. Her relatives blamed her and ordered her to move out within three days. Just as Piper, disheartened, was preparing to leave, the lawyer called everyone to a halt. He revealed that the will was four pages long, but only the first three had been read aloud; the fourth page could only be disclosed once everyone had signed the document—and that final page concerned Piper.
