Synopsis

Eleven-year-old orphan Josie is good at simple custom haircuts. She is taken in by her birth family, the Ashfords, a famous salon family. But jealous elder sister Harper frames her, and no one believes Josie. She flees on a rainy night and hides under an overpass, where she meets five hairdressers unjustly blacklisted by the industry. Josie amazes them with her haircutting skills using just a wooden comb and scissors, then resolves to join the National Youth Styling Competition to clear her name and show her talent. Her contest journey is full of trouble: Harper keeps sabotaging her; her birth parents try to remold her to fit elite salon standards; a vicious coach schemes to destroy her. During the competition, chemical lotion burns Josie’s fingers, costing her sense of touch. Still, she persists relying only on sight and hearing. The truth comes out: this coach framed the five hairdressers five years ago. In the final, guilt-ridden Harper publicly confesses. Josie wins the championship. She declines to go back to her rich birth family and lives with the five hairdressers instead. They open a barbershop named Five Chairs & Josie. Harper gets another shot at competition, and Josie’s parents apologize to her.
