Synopsis

In the late 19th century, in the Western mining town of Crane, miner Arthur entrusts his life savings to his girlfriend Ruby. On the night his mother falls critically ill, he discovers Ruby's betrayal—she is in bed with Clint, the son of the town mayor, having squandered all his hard-earned money. Arthur is beaten, tied up, forced to his knees, and watches helplessly as his mother dies in their shack. In despair, he digs at his mother's grave and uncovers an entire vein of pure gold. Overnight wealthy, Arthur hides his identity, partners with Marcus, the president of the state bank, and operates behind the mask of an "East Coast investor." Step by step, he sets a trap, luring Clint into signing over the entire town. When Mayor Jones discovers the truth and tries to kill Arthur to silence him, sending him to the gallows—an armored train roars in, and a full reckoning descends. On the gallows, Arthur removes his mask and faces the town: the poor miner they trampled underfoot is the man who owns everything. After his revenge, facing the escaped Clint, Arthur nearly succumbs to murderous rage—until his childhood friend Cora grabs his gun on the train, helping him choose to become a different person from his enemies.
