Synopsis

Irene, a 29‑year‑old graphic designer, works as a secretary for William, the CEO of a Manhattan investment bank. A pivotal proposal from her helps William steer clear of severe business risks. Faced with the board’s pressure for him to marry, William proposes a deal: Irene shall pose as his fiancée, and they will have a flash marriage. Secretly in love with him, Irene hopes to win his heart within a month. William, however, only plans to return to bachelorhood once the crisis passes. Thus begins their contract marriage, each harbouring separate agendas. In daily life, Irene eases William’s work‑related anxiety time and again, and tender moments keep drawing them closer, yet William repeatedly pulls away on purpose. His ex‑girlfriend Victoria keeps inserting herself into their lives. When she provokes Irene openly at the annual gala, William kisses Irene in public to claim her. Irene’s heart swells with warmth, only to later learn it was merely a move to secure his position. Heart‑broken, she signs the divorce papers. As she packs her belongings, William breaks down and confesses that his coldness stemmed from his fear of falling for her. They reconcile, until Victoria fakes a pregnancy with William’s child. Crushed, Irene walks away. William uncovers her fraudulent lie, resolutely resigns from his executive post, launches a new firm, and lays bare his feelings publicly.
