Synopsis

Brenda has been with Grady for five years, but the Cabrera family has constantly tormented her over tarot readings. Every year, she draws an “unlucky” card and is publicly humiliated for being unworthy of Grady. In the fifth year, the family finally approves their engagement. But right before the engagement party, Brenda discovers that Grady has been having an affair with the tarot reader, Mallory. The two of them have been using fake cards to sabotage her relationship with Grady. Heartbroken, Brenda quietly accepts a high-paying job in New York and flies out on the day of her engagement party. Mallory and Linda’s scheme is finally revealed, and the family matriarch, Elena, furiously condemns everyone involved. Meanwhile, Brenda builds a successful career in New York and buys a home of her own. Six months later, Grady comes to beg for forgiveness.
