The Years Ahead

Synopsis

Lin Mengya is reborn with her son, Le Le. In her previous life, her husband, Zhou Ming, favored his cousin Wang Li and her daughter. To save Wang Li’s illegitimate daughter, he took Le Le’s heart for a transplant, leading to Le Le’s death from his illness. In despair, Lin Mengya took her own life. After her rebirth, she no longer craves her husband’s love but is solely focused on protecting her son, who suffers from a congenital heart defect. Wang Li, staying at their home, constantly played the victim and played on their sympathy. Zhou Ming repeatedly showed favoritism toward her, sacrificing the well-being of his own son and wife to accommodate them—he even planned to take Wang Li and her daughter abroad and give Wang Li the spot in the piano competition. At a critical moment, Zhou Ming once again secretly transferred the heart donor matched for Le Le to Wang Li’s daughter. Lin Mengya sought the intervention of Mr. Chen, the CEO of a conglomerate who had once received her kindness, and successfully reclaimed the donor, saving Le Le’s life. She uncovered the truth: Niuniu was the illegitimate daughter of Wang Li and Director Liu from the hospital; the two had colluded to feign illness and deceive Zhou Ming. Lin Mengya hired a lawyer to file for divorce, releasing audio evidence of Zhou Ming’s infidelity, embezzlement of marital assets, and disregard for his biological son’s life. The resulting public outcry led to Zhou Ming’s dismissal from his law firm and left him saddled with massive compensation claims. Wang Li absconded with their assets, intending to flee the country with Director Liu and the stolen funds, but was apprehended by police at the airport; Zhou Ming was sentenced to prison for participating in medical malpractice and abandoning his children, and was left with 10 million in debt. After the divorce, Lin Mengya retained all the real estate and assets, resumed her piano career, opened her own studio, and was invited to perform on the international stage. Le Le made a full recovery after surgery, and mother and son moved past their past pain to start a new life filled with peace and happiness.
