Tragic Misunderstanding

Synopsis

Jiang Shiyue was diagnosed with late-stage brain cancer, and her mother-in-law, Zhou Shuping, worked on a construction site and sold their house to raise money for her treatment. However, Jiang Shiyue mistakenly believed that it was Zhou Shuping who had brain cancer and was selling the house to pay for her own treatment. Furious, Jiang Shiyue threatened divorce and pressured her husband, Zhao Hao, to kick his mother, Zhou Shuping, out of the house. Zhou Shuping, determined to save Jiang Shiyue, refused to leave and insisted on selling the house. In a fit of anger, Jiang Shiyue tore up the house deed, cutting off Zhou Shuping’s plan to sell the house. She even threatened to sever ties with Zhou Shuping completely. Heartbroken, Zhou Shuping, along with Zhao Hao and Jiang Shiyue, went to the village to seek the clan elder's help in severing ties. However, Jiang Shiyue spread the news of her brain cancer, which became widely known in the village. The villagers began to shun her, fearing bad luck, and the elder, worried about the Zhao family’s future, removed her from the family genealogy. Zhou Shuping tried to clarify that she did not have brain cancer, and that Jiang Shiyue was the one who was sick, but no one believed her. Zhou Shuping’s adopted son, Zhou Yunting, a renowned doctor, returned to the village. After learning about what had happened to Zhou Shuping, he first destroyed the family genealogy and then proved that Jiang Shiyue was the one suffering from brain cancer. Upon learning the truth about her illness, Jiang Shiyue begged Zhou Yunting to save her. Zhou Yunting demanded a consultation fee, and Jiang Shiyue regretted tearing up the house deed, realizing the mistake she had made.
