Synopsis

At 31, financial genius Claire joins Pierce Holdings as the group’s youngest independent director. From day one, she is caught in a brutal power standoff between CEO Alexander and board chair Nora. While auditing the books, Claire uncovers clues that Nora has been secretly siphoning assets through shell companies. She also learns that Alexander’s father died mysteriously twelve years ago—likely murdered by Nora—and that Alexander’s decade-long investigation has been repeatedly blocked. Claire and Alexander form a restrained alliance, gathering evidence in secret, securing critical records, and pushing for a special investigation. They ultimately prove Nora’s years of embezzling massive corporate funds; key witnesses come forward voluntarily, and Nora is held accountable. Though romantic feelings develop between them, both uphold strict professional boundaries. Claire declines an executive position, is re-elected as a director, and becomes chair of the audit committee—using her fully independent status to check power and uphold integrity.
