Synopsis
Set in contemporary New York and centered on the Cavallo dynasty, the story plays out on two levels: a high-profile business marriage between the Cavallo heir and the Moretti family, and an underlying quest for vengeance rooted in a past betrayal involving a forged receipt worth three million dollars. Ella Jones was the first love of Dante Cavallo, the Cavallo heir; six years ago, while five months pregnant, she was framed and imprisoned by Dante’s mother, Victoria, using that forged receipt, and subsequently gave birth to her daughter, Lily, behind bars. After her release, she raised her daughter alone, scraping by as a scavenger. When Lily is diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia—a condition requiring umbilical cord blood from a sibling to save her life—Ella is left with no other option but to return to Dante’s bed and beg him for another child. Yet, she cannot reveal the truth; Victoria had threatened that if Dante ever learned what truly happened, he would lose the protection of the Cavallo family and meet a violent death on the streets.
