Brood of Ember: Rise of the Queen

Synopsis

On the Ember Soil Continent that has been ruled by the Zerg for a thousand years, human tribes can only survive in seclusion. Ember, the strongest female hunter of the Fireclan tribe, and Kael, the top hunter who grew up with her, fall in love, and the two swear to hunt insect beasts together to restore the glory of humanity. During a hunting operation, Kael is sneak-attacked and stabbed by the Zerg Queen Vespa, who plants the millennium-sleeping God-Egg in his abdomen, making him the "pregnant father" that the entire tribe spurns overnight. The high priest Zol, in order to save his own life, plans to tie him to the altar and cut open his abdomen for sacrifice. Ember publicly breaks the chains to rescue Kael, breaks with the tribe, and embarks on the road of exile together. While fleeing, Ember uses her own blood to repel the insect swarm, and accidentally awakens the legendary Slayer bloodline, whose blood can suppress brood eggs, and is exactly the only power Vespa fears. Later, she discovers that she is actually the blood container Vespa planned for a thousand years, made specifically for the hatching of the sacred egg. After going through many crises such as repeated insect swarm pursuits, breaking into the insect nest alone to rescue Kael, and the offensive and defensive battle on the Holy Mountain, the two work together to refine the ferocious God-Egg into a human-shaped Sacred Child, form a human alliance with the defected Zerg general Lumen, finally overthrow Vespa's rule and kill the remnant of the ancient insect god. After the Sacred Child is born, he subdues all Zerg with his innate power, the continent returns to peace. Ember is crowned Queen of mankind, Kael is named the Sacred King, and the story ends with Kael getting pregnant again, and the two starting a stable and happy new life.
