Synopsis

Norah Chen, a 33-year-old marine engineer, met Derek Sterling—a former executive of a deep-sea mining company—at the Ocean Technology Summit. Together, they designed the manned submersible "DeepDiver II," capable of diving to depths of seven kilometers. Their marriage was once dubbed the "Deep-Sea Couple." During their honeymoon dive in the Maldives, Derek deliberately loosened the power system interface of the submersible, attempting to stage an accident that would plunge Norah to the seabed. With her professional expertise, Norah successfully rescued herself from the perilous situation. Later, she uncovered irrefutable evidence—including fingerprints and audio recordings—from the submersible's black box, leading to Derek's conviction and a 12-year prison sentence, which was later commuted before his death from illness. After divorcing, Norah opened up the submersible patent, founded the "Deep Sea Rose Fund" to support female marine scientists, authored the Deep-Sea Self-Safety Manual, trained her outstanding assistant Maya, developed the new submersible "Deep Sea Rose I," and continued dedicating herself to marine engineering. She redeemed herself from the abyss and became a beacon of inspiration for others.
