Synopsis

Five years ago, the genius physician Du Ruosheng and the commander of the Jinyiwei, Fu Shiqi, met and fell in love. Du Ruosheng, fearing Fu Shiqi might think she was trying to climb up the social ladder, concealed her true identity as the Holy Medical Maiden and the only daughter of the wealthy Du family in Kyoto. Instead, she falsely claimed to be an orphan who married into the Fu family. However, their happiness was short-lived. By chance, Du Ruosheng’s close friend, Shen Lan, visited the Fu household. When Fu Shiqi saw a jade pendant Shen Lan was wearing, he mistakenly believed she was the one who had saved him when he was a child, although the pendant originally belonged to Du Ruosheng. Shen Lan, who secretly harbored feelings for Fu Shiqi, seized the opportunity to stay in the Fu household, impersonating Du Ruosheng and framing her for being jealous and causing Shen Lan's heart condition. This led to a rift between Fu Shiqi and Du Ruosheng, and Shen Lan took credit for all the good deeds Du Ruosheng had done for Fu’s mother. From then on, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were at odds. Du Ruosheng’s reputation was tarnished by Shen Lan, and she was publicly shunned in Kyoto, with no place to survive. Du Ruosheng, who was overjoyed at finding out she was pregnant, faced further turmoil when Fu Shiqi, due to Shen Lan’s heart illness, personally shut down her medical clinic. Du Ruosheng was thrown into jail, where Fu’s mother and Shen Lan mocked her, and Fu Shiqi, in order to protect Shen Lan, kicked Du Ruosheng to the ground. Fearing for the safety of her unborn child, Du Ruosheng reluctantly revealed her pregnancy and asked Fu Shiqi to temporarily give her the century-old ginseng that was meant to treat Shen Lan’s hand in order to protect her pregnancy. However, under the influence of Fu’s mother and Shen Lan’s manipulation, Fu Shiqi refused, causing Du Ruosheng to miscarry. Completely heartbroken, Du Ruosheng was taken back by her older brother, Du Hao. By chance, Du Ruosheng encountered Fu Shiqi again at a tavern, and Shen Lan seized the opportunity to further sow discord. Fu Shiqi’s misunderstanding of Du Ruosheng deepened. Later, when Fu Shiqi learned that the ‘Holy Medical Maiden’ had returned, Fu’s mother pressured him to personally go with Shen Lan to find Du Ruosheng for medicine. Fu Shiqi, unaware of Du Ruosheng’s true identity, and Du Ruosheng had an intense encounter, during which she almost revealed her identity. Through Ye Tian, Du Ruosheng discovered the truth about the jade pendant from years ago and learned that Fu Shiqi and Shen Lan were planning to get engaged. She decided to attend their engagement banquet, where she was humiliated by Shen Lan in front of all the guests. Just as things were escalating, Du Hao appeared and revealed Du Ruosheng’s true identity.
