Synopsis
Eighteen years ago, Daisy Clark lost her husband in an accident and her son, Grant Frost, was critically ill. To raise money for his surgery, she sold herself into marriage for 30,000 dollars to David Davis, an idle gambler and drunkard, with whom she later had a daughter, Grace Davis.Raised by his grandmother, Grant grew up healthy and, driven by a lifelong desire to find and repay his mother, became the richest man in Seaville. Upon learning she is in Riverdale, he immediately sets off to find her.Meanwhile, as Grace prepares for her college entrance exams, David, deeming Daisy too old to earn money, decides to sell his daughter to marry the intellectually disabled son of Ethan Evans. Daisy desperately tries to stop him but fails. Under the pretext of giving her daughter pre-marriage advice, she helps Grace escape, giving her a crayon drawing - a keepsake from Grant - and tells her to flee to Seaville to find her brother.When David and Ethan discover the escape, Ethan demands his money back.
